Mary's Meals provides chronically hungry children with one meal every school day, encouraging education that can lift them out of poverty in later life
£19.15 is all it costs to feed a child in a developing country for a whole school year
Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education. Our idea is a simple one that works. We provide one daily meal in a place of learning in order to attract chronically poor children into the classroom, where they receive an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty.
Our model is highly effective, and this is how we have grown from feeding in one school in Malawi in 2002 to today where we are serving life-changing school meals to 2,429,182 children in 18 countries around the world.
We are committed to keeping our running costs low and ensure that at least 93% of donations are spent on our charitable activities. It costs just £19.15 to feed a child for an entire school year.
