FAQs

Why wasn't I given the option to donate post purchase?

There are two possible reasons for that. Either the brand you are shopping with does not have the Customer donations feature enabled or the payment method you chose takes  you away from the main site, which is the case with Buy Now Pay Later products and PayPal. Please note, that a store may still be giving from your purchase to a cause at no cost to you, even if the Customer Donations widget is disabled.

Can I get a refund on my donation?

A donation become a part of your order. If you want your donation refunded - please email the store directly. They will be able to do this on their end.

Do all the my donations go to the Cause?

Your donations are sent directly to your Charity by the store.

Please note that transaction fees are applied to donations. There are independent from Virtue and are charged by the payment gateway. This fee is typically  0-2.5%. An additional PayPal Giving Fund Fee of 1.4% may also apply.

How do I know the Causes are legit?

We check all causes are registered not-for-profit organisations before allowing them on Virtue. The names of the not-for-profits funds are going to are on the widgets.

Donation processing fees - Customer Donations

Every purchase you make has a transaction fee included in it. This fee is independent from Virtue and comes out of the store's takings to pay for the use of their online payment gateway service. This fee is typically between 0.5-2.5%, depending on the plan the store is on. This fee will be deducted out from your donation before going to your chosen Charity.

If a Charity you supported chose to receive funds via PayPal Giving Fund, an additional 1.4% fee on donation applies.

You will see a disclaimer about that when you add your donations.
